Reopen for visitors after restorative works Ethnographic Museum of Elbasan
After a closure of nearly five months due to restoration work, the Elbasan Ethnographic Museum has again opened its doors to local and foreign visitors. This museum otherwise known as the « House of Sejdinas » is one of the most important cultural heritage objects of the city of Elbasan which offers a deep overview of the Early Elbasan traditions and customs. Restoration work focused mainly on roof reconstruction and other structural elements in order to preserve the original identity.
According to the director of the Center of Art and Culture, Kliton Kapaj, this project has brought a complete transformation of the museum, giving the city an added historical and tourist value. He also stressed that the opening of other museums in the city, especially in the Kala neighborhood, would enrich the Elbasan tourist offer.
The House of Sejdinas declared Category I cultural monument on January 15, 1963 is one of the most special architectural buildings in the Elbasan area. With the latest reconstruction, the museum has regained its splendor by offering a more attractive environment for visitors. The Directorate of the Center of Art and Culture has also worked on the transformation of stands and interior design to enrich the experience of visitors and to further promote the city’s cultural heritage.
Visitors can enjoy exhibitions that reflect traditional living, crafts, folk dresses and other important objects that speak of the identity of the city. For those planning a visit, the museum according to authorities is open Monday to Friday, from 9:00 to 17:00.
