Kaunas City Municipality plans to turn Neptune Bay into an official inland port of water registered by R. Kalantos str. 130. The port management was entrusted to the budget institution « Parking in Kaunas ». According to the mayor of the city Visvaldas Matijošaitis, Kaunas is purposefully investing in the development of inland transport, and Neptune Bay is an important part of the process.
“Kaunas is increasingly becoming a city of rivers but also inland water. Modern infrastructure created in Neptune Bay is already attracted to active leisure enthusiasts, and once the formalities are completed, the port will officially add to the city water road network, ”the mayor said.

In the near future it is planned to install a stationary ship lifting crane and quay reinforcements, allowing ships to be stored in winter, ”said J. Limanauskas.
A couple of years ago, when the quays began to be managed, there was also an environmental abandoned property. While managing the bottom, divers discovered a sinking yacht about 8 m long, about 4 t. It was safely raised and transported.

Sailing base and leisure space
Neptune Bay creates quality infrastructure for sailing enthusiasts and young athletes. The Bangpūtis sailing base will ensure the right conditions for both theoretical and practical training – in the summer, students will reach the water on a specially dedicated path, and in winter they will learn in modern rooms with gym and other necessary spaces.
In addition to active shipping, the bay area is planned for the residents and visitors of the city – a park for a walk on the picturesque coast of the lagoon.
