REN AND E-REDES ask that blackout be classified as « exceptional event »
REN and E-REDES have already delivered the report on the electric blackout that occurred in late April to ERSE and the two companies take advantage of this “report to request the classification as an exceptional event (EE)”.

The regulator, however, explains that “ERSE’s decision regarding the event’s classification will be public and duly substantiated”, adding that it is “an incident to the European scale, the decision may have to wait for the final report of Entso-E (European Network of Electricity Transport Network Operators)”.
According to ERSE, the event can only be considered exceptional as long as it cumulatively complies with four criteria: low probability of occurrence of the event or its consequences, causes a significant decrease in the quality of service provided; It is not reasonable, in economic terms, that network operators prevent the entire consequences and the event and the consequences and their consequences are not imputable to network operators.
