Religious publications and travel books prominent at auction

« The auction is not big in number; 44 pieces. The books that are now available are, however, sought after, » says Ari Gísli Bragason.

He stands at the Ancient Book Sales The book, which with Gallery Fold now stands for an online auction of books that will be on display in the Fold Gallery at Rauðarárstíg in Reykjavik after Easter. Offer can then be submitted until April 28.

Religious publications and travel books are at the forefront. There could be a class book of the containing fertile Passion and Suggestion Psalms, which was published in Viðeyjarklaustur in the middle of the 19th century. More print items from Viðey will be offered.

You can also include the Mathematical Book of Jón Guðmundsson – a short subcontribution in the account list and Algebra. More foreign math books are at the auction, the oldest printed in Venice in 1770.

Travel books also available

Travel books on Iceland, Greenland and Jan Mayen are also available this time. One of the most beautiful of them is David Cranz’s great work on Greenland, but the copy has all the maps and drawings, which greatly increases its value to the collection history.

It is also worth noting that one of the three volumes of Edda Sæmundar of the Frode, published by the Árni Magnússon Institute in Copenhagen in 1828, is at the auction.

It includes the comprehensive work of Völuspás, Háfamál and Rigsmál. The book is in a decorated alliance and is a beautiful artifact that comes with the mark of ownership history.
