Released Portuguese that had been arrested in March and risked deportation from the USA
The Portuguese Rui Murras, resident in the US, was released and the accusations were raised, the Secretary of State for Portuguese Communities told Lusa.
“It was unlawful from all accusations at the last hearing and freed it up,” said José Cesário.
Rui Murras, who has lived in the US since he was two years old and has permanent residence authorization in the United States-the so-called Green Card, was detained by US immigration authorities in late March while returning from a vacation abroad.
Speaking to the Lusa agency, José Cesário was unable to indicate the exact date of the hearing in which Rui Murras was released, but that the information he has is that 32 -year -old Portuguese no longer risks being deported.
At the source of detention and the risk of deportation will be the problems Rui Murras will have had with the US courts.
In 2012, according to the press of New Bedford, where Portuguese lives, he was accused of “distributing a controlled substance”, would be Marijuana, and “conspiracy to violate drug laws”, the latter was raised by recommendation of the Case Freedom Department in July 2013.
In 2017, Murras was accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, but the case was filed the following year after he attended and completed an alcohol education program.
