REK Bitola is actively working to overcome the challenges by delaying the ashes
REK Bitola is actively working to minimize the problems that are caused by dust in more intense wind or due to the specific process of production, transport and delay of ashes through a 3.7 kilometer lane.
REC Bitola’s Public Relations Department informs that ash, as a by -product of electricity production, is treated with continuous moisture, followed by delay and landscaping.
-High temperatures and winds can lead to drying of the surface layer and possibly lifting the dust on its lowering of the cartridge. On March 26, 2025, the State Environmental Inspectorate supervised the ash dump in REK Bitola. The inspection found the presence of larger quantities of ash that deviate from the prescribed in the main mining project, for which the obligations were issued within 30 days the quantities were adequately delayed and sprinkled with earth. The Inspectorate did not impose sanctions, indicating recognition of the plant’s efforts to resolve this issue. We inform, according to REK Bitola, that today, there is no gram of ashes on the dump that was subject to inspection. The whole amount is delayed and the terrain is completely sprinkled with soil.
REK Bitola said that from April 25, the ashtray will continue directly into the cassette, and the water cannons for additional moisture will be put into operation immediately after the tape is moved.
According to the data obtained and the results of ambient air measurements carried out by the accredited laboratory « Technolab » Skopje, it was found that the examined period did not exceed the 24-hour limit value for the protection of human health for the concentration of suspended solid particles (PM10).
