Recreaseless BMW driver cuts the PAS off at exit: « I am a trucker for 30 years, but I have never experienced this » (inland)
De Waaghals, which played a hallucinatory maneuver on Tuesday, will soon be able to expect a less fun phone call from the Ghent road police. Truck driver Teuto West (48) from Kuurne was able to film everything with his dashcam: « I have never experienced this in 30 years. »
On Tuesday afternoon around half past two, Teuto West – not his real name but a well -known nickname in the transport world – was quietly on his way with his truck on the E40 when he was surprised out of nowhere. « I came from the direction of Brussels and wanted to take the exit on the Klaverblad in Zwijnaarde towards Kortrijk. At the very last moment, where the exit is separated from the highway with concrete blocks, a gray BMW with a black race bike on the back of my truck and those concrete blocks were just that I would not dare between it.”
The spa was surprised, but that is not due to inattention. « As a truck driver you don’t have a rear -view mirror, so we only use our side mirrors. The moment I came to those concrete blocks, I did not expect a car to cut me off there. »
Good ending
Teuto was lucky because it could have ended much worse. « Because that BMW cut me off, I had to turn to the right. Fortunately, there was no other vehicle next to me at that time. It could have ended a lot worse. »
The West Flanders tried to point out to the driver that he had hit him. « Because he had to brake due to previous traffic, I started driving after him with my big lights and I even honked. Because if there is damage, papers must of course be filled. » The only reaction Teuto received from the driver was not this one he had hoped for. « His window went down, he put his left arm outside and signed as if nothing had happened and that everything was fine. »
Fortunately, there is no injuries and the truck is not damaged either. « At first I thought I would have damage, because when he passed me I heard a abrasive sound. But when I looked afterwards, there turned out to be nothing on my truck. The BMW driver probably hit the concrete blocks during his catch -up maneuver. »
Unpunished
The driver is currently not identified by the police, but Teuto can sleep on his two ears. « The police have promised me that they will be able to detect the driver and tomorrow I also have to make a statement. » De Waaghals can expect a big ticket.
The driver would apparently also have received a major reprimand. « When I drove behind him after the incident, I saw through the rear window that there was a woman next to him and to see, he got a lot on his ears from that Madam. And rightly of course, » Teuto concludes.
