Record year for tax -free passing on in Flanders

The number of transmissions increased by almost a quarter (23 percent) in 2024 to a record number of 1,171 deeds. With such a donation, someone who inherits can partly or completely pass the estate to the children or grandchildren, without having to pay (again) taxes. This is apparent from data from the Flemish Tax Authorities that Flemish MP Katrien Schryvers (CD&V) has requested and who could view time.

The number of beneficiaries also reached 2,212 (+25 percent) a peak, just like the total donated power. That was 373.8 million euros (+26 percent), including real estate. In total, 2,235 immovable property was ‘poured’ (+33 percent) last year. The largest assets that was passed on in 2024 was just under 3 million euros, the lowest barely 75 euros. On average, a beneficiary received 169,000 euros. The average ‘passenger’ was 73 years old last year, the age of the average beneficiary was 43 years old.
Since the system was introduced in September 2018, 5,028 Flemish people have already passed their inheritance in part or not to 9,542 beneficiaries. There were 8,687 real estate. The total assets that were passed on in this way exceeds the cape of 1.5 billion euros.
