Record in the national energy system
On Friday, Romania has a record production in the national energy system, of 8000MW, which allows it to cover consumption and export 180MW, announced Energy Minister Sebastian Burduja.

According to him, the production mix is balanced, with over 31% wind energy, respectively almost 2500MW. Hydro production reaches almost 2000mw, follows the nuclear, with 1300MW, and the gas with 1100MW. Also the tape energy comes from the charcoal power plants, over 800MW. Then biomass, 76mw, and more and more battery storage (36MW) appears more and more, Burduja said.
‘Here we really have an in progress: at the beginning of 2024, we had only 14mwh, and now we already have almost 400mwh, an incredible growth. I did not put almost 400 million euros, non -reimbursable funds, for investment projects for storage in batteries, which are added to the investments fully supported by private funds. Only in the first three months of 2025, 132MWH capabilities, excellent performance, were put into operation. We want to keep the pace of investments this year. If we all come out, we will have more than 2500MW for the energy system, including the famous Iernut power plant, for which we make superhuman efforts every day. The Romgaz team has managed today to conclude tripartite conventions with Duro Felguera and General Electric, which will ensure a better implementation rate for the rest (about 3%) ‘, stressed the Minister of Energy.
