Rebeckahemmet closes department Acute – DN.se

Now the State Institution Board, SIS, has decided to close a so -called specially strengthened department at the Rebeck Home. It has room for four young people with « extensive neuropsychiatric disabilities ». The department, which requires particularly high staffing, is one of three in Sweden.

The documentation that DN has taken note of, states that the staff does not have the right skills.

While the department is kept closed for at least four months, the department must recruit new employees and make « skills -enhancing efforts » for the existing staff.

DN has talked to several employees in the department, which gives a different picture.

-It is a well-established SIS norm, that you are blamed from us who work « on the floor, » says an employee in the department who has worked for a long time within the authority.

Two more colleagues say that they have changed the manager several times in a short time.

-More recently, it has also been heard that there are so many IVO notifications that the department can no longer be conducted as usual, says one of them.

DN has sought the head of department David Söderman, who has declined an interview.

Birgitta Dahlberg, youth care director at SIS, says that it is not about closing the department, but about a « temporary place reduction ».

– We do this to enable skills development and recruitment of staff to the department, which has an assignment that requires special competence and high staff density.

Has not the staff working in the department until now had the right education and skills?

– When there is a large staff turnover and it becomes a high number of employees who do not have these specific training courses for the department’s assignment, it is easier to increase competence quickly in the group by making it together.

According to DN, you close the department due to conflicts between staff and management, how do you comment on it?

– There are basically conflicts and there have been several notifications that we are now investigating in a special order.
