Reaction from Kibtes to Archbishop – Cyprus Newspaper
Himmet Turgut, President of the Turkish Cypriot Educators Union (KIBTES), stated that throughout history, the Turkish people and Türkiye have established a bond with meat with meat, and that this union protected the Turkish existence on the island by resisting all kinds of difficulties.
Turgut, who made a written statement, criticized the statements of the Archbishop of the Greek Orthodox Church, and said that “provocative and discriminatory statements are the reflection of an understanding that ignores the historical existence, rights and their commitment to peace”.
“It should be known that such discourses are only aimed at provocation and separatism, and harm the historical facts and the will of the peoples to live together.” He said.
Turgut noted that the Turkish Cypriot people are an integral part of the lands in which they lived with their roots, which were long dating back to 1571, and emphasized that the Turkish Cypriot people and Türkiye have established a bond with meat and meat with meat, and that this union resisted against all kinds of difficulties.
Turgut used the following statements:
“All kinds of initiatives that try to separate us from each other are doomed to fail today as in the past. The explanations that describe Türkiye as an invader on the island consist of a propaganda that is incompatible with reality and only offers conflict.
In this context, Kibtes invites the European Union and the United Nations to accept the equality of two separate societies in Cyprus and the reality of the two states.
Our recent history has shown that the United Cyprus initiatives, established with the dreams of Hellenism and Enosis, have only brought pain and tears to the Turkish Cypriot people. Repeat this error will only encourage further division and conflict.
The Turkish Cypriot people continue to be determined on the basis of two separate states with the strong support of Türkiye’s homeland. With the lesson to be removed from the story of ‘Yellow Ox’, the unity and solidarity of our people is the greatest power and will be enough to eliminate all kinds of threats. No power can force us to give up our rights, sovereignty and future. The historical and determined stance of our people will continue to be the key to peace and stability on the island. ”
