Rama lures with the EU accession, Berisha relies on Trump’s campaign manager-Diepresse.com
Albania’s Premier Edi Rama hopes for a fourth term in the parliamentary election on Sunday. The permanent regent with the election promise of a rapid EU accession as a high favorite goes into the duel against its 80-year-old predecessor, Sali Berisha. But corruption scandals are bothered by both.
An 80-year-old political fossil praised his compatriots on Sunday in front of Albania’s parliamentary election on Sunday. On May 11th, Albania will « be freed from the greatest evil in its history and the dictatorship of crime, » announced ex-premier Sali Berisha, the top candidate of the opposition Democrats (PD). « Edi Rama, the monster that a country wanted without an opposition is done. »
The forecasts published before the urn gang speak a different language. Prime Minister Edi Rama, who has been in office since 2013,, the hope for the ruling socialists (PS), can hope for the fourth government mandate in a row: In the surveys, his PS with 46-50 percent is again clearly ahead of the PD of his predecessor, which is noted at 30 to 37 percent.
« Makes Albania great again »
« Only with EDI 2030 into the EU », the PS election slogan praises the supporters of the authoritarian knitted prime minister, however, the less realistic EU flash accession. « Makes Albania great again, » is the message of the Berisha, which is borrowed from the US Maga movement of the Berisha, advised by Trump-election campaign manager Chris Lacivita, which promises generously rising salaries, pensions and new jobs.
Although several new parties and lists argue about voting favor and some of them also have good prospects for the jump over the one percent hurdle and the application for parliament, Albania’s urn can be found again in fact. However, many of their compatriots feel the choice between Ramas PS and Berishas PD, like those between constant rain and eaves: neither the government nor the opposition parties can spread a spirit of voices in the voices overshadowed by endless corruption scandals.
Friends and nepotism
Unfortunately, the opponents Rama and Berisha have rightly accused each other with friendship and nepotism. The two major parties PS and PD alone have nominated a total of 15 candidates and dignitaries, against the Albania special prosecutors to combat corruption.
While Tirana’s Mayor Erion Veliaj (PS), a close confidante Rama has been braided in pre-trial detention for three months, the judiciary also investigated Berisha: Due to the suspicion of money laundering and corruption, the PD boss himself was also a few months in the house arrest in the USA.
Thanks to the tourism, which has been strongly attracted since the pandemic, Albania has achieved envious high growth rates between almost four and nine percent in the past three years. But not only the rapidly increasing living costs, but also poverty and emigration are causing the Mediterranean state shrunk to 2.7 million inhabitants. After all: 250,000 abroad for the first time were able to register as a mail voter for the parliamentary election. At the same time, their names were repaid from the local electoral registers of their communities of origin.
