Radojka Sverko for 24 Hours: ‘Alfi had a talent that was not taught’
He was a man who loved his wife Katja immensely. They have two children. He spent his free time on tennis courts. He was a great tennis player. When we traveled around the world, then it happened that with famous people the game tennis and the same was won, the Croatian Music Diva tells us Radojka Sverko about the legendary composer Alfia Kabilinwho died on April 1 at the age of 90.
Their collaboration dates back to the 70’s, and this top duo conquered festivals throughout the globe, from Scandinavia to the United States of America.
– At the invitation of foreign and world festivals, we represented our country with the greatest possible successes, winning at festivals such as Tokyo, Los Angeles, Rio de Janeiro, Seoul, Athens, Palma de Mallorce and Rio de Janeiro. There were so many cities, where we won or we placed second, sometimes to the third, once the most beautiful song, once the best vocals, once the best interpretation. So these are all some details, some successes, who fall deeply into the memory, the successes that brought us joy, once brought us the financial profits we lived from, but we spent one of those money in our country. Despite the great offers we had for the remnant in these countries from Ireland, from Britain, from France, from Italy, Spain, to actually divide our activities by living in these countries and we returned to both love with great love – Radojka Sverko tells us.

She achieved her first international success in 1969, winning 3rd place at the Atlantic Tenerife (Canary Islands) Festival with the song « Nuestro Mundo » Alfi Kabil. At the Rio de Janeiro festival in 1970. For the performance of the song « The World is Mine », also composed by Alfi Kabilo, he receives the recognition of « The Most Outstanding Performance », which becomes the first artist to receive this recognition after the famous Janis Joplin.
– Personally, I was never sorry, despite the fact that I may not have had any special privileges in my country as an artist. But well, years go by, a man comes to a mature age and remember all that has brought you joy in the past – says the star of a unique voice.

This is a great loss for the music scene.
– I mean very hard for anyone to reach that musical manuscript of his, which has been entering the souls of people from the first listen. There are compositions, there are musical content that you have to listen to this music many times to achieve that goal, in fact that the intention to reach people – he tells us: « Mr. Alfija Kabil’s manuscript did so on first broadcasting. And this is one skill, in fact it is not a skill, this is something he simply carried in himself. No one can suggest.
