Radical changes to Eurovision

This year, EBU is implementing stricter regulations to the music competition. In the aftermath of what happened in the competition of 2024, mainly with the political turn it took, the European Broadcasting Union decided to change the regulations for both the flags and for the established countries’ press interviews, after the two semifinals. Its purpose is to maintain a neutral environment.

In particular, during the established parade of countries, artists are obliged to keep the flag of their own country solely. The appearance of other flags or symbols, such as LGBTKI+ community, is prohibited.

Press interviews are also abolished, after each semifinals and the Grand Final. Instead, pre -authored videos will be highlighted with the representatives of the countries and the winning participation, in which artists will answer specific questions without the participation of journalists.

The changes are also noticeable in rehearsals. The videos from the first rehearsal of the participants, who were available until last year, are abolished this year. In their place, only three photos will be given – instead of five as older – while the small clip with excerpts from each appearance will only be made public after the second rehearsal is completed.
