Quintin wants analysis about how police haunt steps and other weak road users

After the death of Fabian (11), the Interior Minister Bernard Quintin (MR) wants to analyze how the police should use the pursuit of two -wheelers and soft road users.
« These means of transport are increasingly being used in our cities, by an audience of all ages, » says Minister of the Interior Bernard Quintin (MR) in the Chamber, where he has to answer a whole host of the death of Fabian (11). The boy fled away from a police combination on his electric scooter and was killed when he dedicated and ended up under the car.
Quintin – himself from Ganshoren, the place where it all happened – extensively expressed his condolences to the boy’s family. He dedicates the police to make a « thorough analysis » of chases of « two -wheelers and other weak road users in an urban environment ». « All measures must be taken to prevent this type of events from occurring in the future. »
He cannot lose much about the circumstances themselves. Committee P research is still ongoing, that has to sort everything down to the bottom. He does, however, point out that his services are fully engaged in the « child test ». The intention is to make the police in this way how to deal with minors in a smooth and appropriate way. In the police schools too, more attention must be paid to situations with children. The vision text is ready, the procedures will be rolled out later this year.
Quintin’s predecessor Annelies Verlinden (CD&V) already announced the child test in 2021, then to combat the « vicious circle of no confidence between the police and the youth ». Bodies such as the juvenile court commissioner have been arguing for such a measure for some time. (AGY)
