Minister of the Interior Bernard Quintin (MR) is currently retaining confidence in Eric Snoeck, the Commissioner-General of the Federal Police who is under fire because of a report that is about conflicts in the workplace, toxic leadership and cross-border behavior. Quintin said that on Wednesday evening in the House of Representatives Committee.

In the French -speaking newspaper La Dernière Heure In April a report leaked on the well -being of the employees of the federal judicial police. This includes authoritarian leadership, conflicts in the workplace and cross -border behavior. Eric Snoeck, the current commissioner-general of the entire federal police, was at the head of that federal judicial police until 2023. Snoeck is expected in parliament next Tuesday to come and give text and explanation.

Bernard Quintin, Minister of the Interior, received questions about the N-VA MP Maaike De Vreese on Tuesday evening in the House Committee on the Interior Committee. He emphasized that « the rumors about mismanagement are taken very seriously ». For the time being, however, the MR minister has « no indication that undermines confidence in the organization or in the leadership of the Commissioner-General, on the contrary, » he also said. « The operational effect is fully guaranteed (..) The use of thousands of police officers and their managers deserve our respect and our support. »

De Vreese is less convinced, but awaits next week’s hearing. « I hear that you have faith in the Lord Snoeck and that you have no reason to doubt his integrity. I really hope that, » she said. « I also hope that when it comes to cross -border behavior and respect for other colleagues within the federal police, which is taken seriously, there will be a plan of action and the things are not pushed away. (..) An answer must come to that. »
