« QUEPRODUDE » poisons us? UFC-Que Choisir launches its app for knowledge-Liberation
Another initiative which will please the agrifood giants (no). The consumer defense association UFC-Que Choisir This Wednesday is launched the SUMPRODUDE application. It allows the consumer to scan the barcodes of food, cosmetics and household products to access information on their composition and their impact on the environment.
As part of his #stopauxSubsancesnocives campaign, theUFC will also mobilize his volunteers to « meet consumers and consumers ” in some 80 cities in France, and inform them about « Dangers of harmful substances » contained in everyday products.
Place de la République in Paris on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m., a demonstration was also organized. The challenge is to denounce, according to their press release, « Certain industrial, detergents and cosmetic foods (which) contain very allergenic substances, potentially toxic for functions of the body or suspected of being endocrine disruptors ».
Among these products, theUFC-The choose quotes the Zero coca-cola, orangina without sugar, Wrigley’s Airwaves Menthol and Eucalyptus chewing-gums or even Solar amber UV Ski SPF 30 of Garnier and the monoi sunscreen from Tahiti SPF 50 of the islands, believing that they contain potentially problematic substances.
The association wishes « Question the public authorities on the need to prohibit the most worrying substances »of « Set up an assessment truly independent of food, cosmetics and household components » and to return « Finally understandable » labeling.
L’UFC also wants to display Nutri-Score, often threatenedbecome compulsory on all food products – as the Economic Social and Environmental Economic Council (EESC) advocated at mid April « While 40 % of foods, especially the most calorie, still do not indicate it ”.
Its free Application Application allows, says the association, to verify the composition of more than 370,000 food, cosmetics and maintenance,« Instantly identify the presence of harmful substances » and « Discover healthier and responsible alternatives ». It also allows « Report problematic products to strengthen pressure on industrialists and authorities. »
