Putin: The first contacts with the new US Government bring some hope
Russian President Vladimir Putin said today at a meeting of the Board of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) that the first contacts with US President Donald Trump's government have some hope.
-We all see how fast the world is changing, the situation around the world. In this direction, I would like to note that the first contacts with the new US government bring some hopes. On the other hand, there is a desire to work on restoring interstate relations, to gradually resolve the huge number of accumulated systemic, strategic problems in global security architecture – said Putin.
The Russian leader stressed that « it is these problems that have caused a crisis in Ukraine and other crises at one point. »
Putin also pointed out that Russia and the United States are ready to cooperate, but some Western political elites will try to undermine dialogue between them.
The Russian president told senior FSB officials that the number of cyber attacks against Russia is growing and that counterintelligence must increase efforts to neutralize them.
« I will also notice that with the development of digital technologies, the number of cyber attacks on domestic information infrastructure is increasing, including official government websites, as well as against sites and services of state corporations and other sectors, » Putin said.
The Russian leader added that such crimes have « systemic, multifaceted and multi -vector nature » and harm both state, businesses and ordinary citizens.
« Increasing the security of our national information infrastructure and finding new methods to neutralize cyber threats is a task, including that of your department, » Putin said.
