Punishment for transportation across the border of cash and suction goods is changing
The tax-so-so-law department of Estonia reports that on April 27, amendments to the law will come into force, according to which the import and export of sanctions goods, as well as cash for up to 10,000 euros, is a punishable act and is subject to consideration in the manner prescribed by misconduct. If the amount exceeds 10,000 euros, the acts are repeated in nature or are committed by a group of persons, then they are subject to criminal punishment, writes DELFI.
If previously sanctions violations were subject to consideration only on criminal procedure, now the legislator allows you to do this in the framework of the proceedings on misconduct in cases where the volume of violation is less than 10,000 euros. For individuals, a penalty of up to 2400 euros or arrest is provided as a punishment for misconduct, and for legal entities – a fine of up to 400,000 euros. In addition, the tax receives the right to confiscate goods within the framework of accelerated production. The misconduct is repeatedly considered a criminal offense.
For crimes related to the transportation of cash and goods that have fallen under sanctions, individuals are punished in the form of a prison report for up to 6 years, and for legal entities – a monetary punishment in the amount of up to 40,000,000 euros. If so far sanctions violations have been punishable only if they were committed intentionally, then from April 27 they will be punished for actions committed by negligence (frivolity or negligence).
The tax-soiled department recalls that before crossing the border, it is necessary to very carefully familiarize yourself with the current prohibitions and restrictions. Additional information can be obtained on the website of the department or by phone of the customer customer support service.
