The Britpop revival continues with « Spike Island » from Pulp.

Pulp of all bands of the Britpop were always the most British. Style, topics, dance style, vocals, very, you already know. Her over-Britishness prove Pulp on her single for her first album since « We Love Life » from 2001: Spike Island may know as a strategically cheap island in the port of Cork. But that was also the name of a concert by the Stone Roses 1990, which did not take place on the island, but in northern England. It is probably only music enthusiasts beyond the English Channel. « Woodstock of the Manchester generation » is called by some. Musician Jason Buckle was there, he wrote the new single with pulp mastermind Jarvis Cocker, in the meantime the two had appeared as a duo relaxed muscle. In terms of content, the song only has to do with the shine of past days. The song is about fame, « I was born to perform », sings cocker, but also about a fight with a clothing hook: « Can you guess who? ». The text is a bit meaningless, less pointed, the groove a little more leisurely than at pulp flowering times. The video is worth seeing for which cocker used to live old band photos with the help of artificial intelligence. The four -fingered hands are scary. Heide Rampetzreiter

The song for Sunday Certainly alternating Thomas Kramar and Heide Rampetzreiter (« Die Presse ») as well as Christoph Sepin, Michaela Pichler and Lisa Schneider (Radio FM4). He can be heard on Sunday between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on FM4. More information on diepresse.com/Songderwoche and fm4.orf.at.
