Puljak: I am attacked by the owner of the company, which is the biggest donor of the HDZ!

The Split mayor and candidate for a new term of office at the helm of Split Ivica Puljak (Center) presented the results and plans related to public garage and parking lots on Ravni fields on Wednesday and warned of the attempts of individual companies to influence the conditions of the competition in their favor.

Puljak stated that he was « attacked by the owner of the company, which is the largest donor of the HDZ », asking the city government to favor the competition for the rehabilitation of the Poljud Stadium.

– This company is part of a construction lobby that could not win a competition in the way it may happen when the HDZ manages. They tried to influence us to include the sentences that would give their company, for as much as 20 million euros more than the estimated value – said Puljak.

He added that the city government rejected such a request. Puljak said that projects in the city are being implemented through honest public tenders, without favorary.

– Companies that win competitions build because they were the best. Companies that get jobs are not our donors. You will not find the construction companies on the Center party list for us. So we will continue to run the city – fair, open and transparent – said Puljak.

Speaking at the construction site of the garage on the flat fields, he said it was a project they had inherited, but whose property-legal relations were unresolved, which has almost abandoned realization. Puljak pointed out that these are a total of 30 garages with about 13,000 parking spaces, with an investment value of approximately 150 million euros.

So far, he says, two garages have been built, and five more construction is underway, and five more construction sites will open in the next six to twelve months. By the end of the next term, they plan to start the construction of another ten new garages.
