PSP made more than 500 arrests in carnival operation

In the last six days, the Public Security Police (PSP) has made 548 arrests following the “Operation Police Always Present – Carnival in Security 2025”.

In a note this Sunday, the security force states that of the total of the arrests, 193 were for road crimes, namely 86 for driving a vehicle in a state of drunkenness and 107 for lack of legal qualification to drive, according to data released today.

« In this temporal period we also emphasize the seizure of 41 firearms and 26 white weapons, either as a precautionary measure and followed by the 13 arrests made for possession of prohibited weapons, and 16 916 pyrotechnic articles and about 33.8 kg of explosive liquid content, » says the note.

Regarding road prevention, PSP states that 13,481 drivers 49,191 vehicles were inspected by radar, and 4,513 infractions were detected.

Of the road offenses detected, PSP refers 569 for speeding, 438 for lack of compulsory periodic inspection, 153 for lack of compulsory insurance, 98 for use of the driving mobile phone, 57 for driving under the influence of alcohol, 46 for lack or incorrect use of the seat belt and 20 due to lack or incorrect use of retention systems.
