PSD attacks PS program and the « end of the right accounts »
The PSD accuses the PS of presenting a “revenue for the disaster” with its electoral program. The assistant and territorial cohesion minister said on Sunday that socialist measures would return « the impoverishment that ended in the bank. »
Manuel Castro Almeida stated, in a reaction at the PSD headquarters, that “despair took over the PS”, accusing the socialists of “promising everything to everyone without doing anything to anything”.
For the minister, head of the PSD list by Portalegre in the May 18 legislatures, if the PS program was ever applied, Portugal « would return to deficit and increase public debt. » « It is the end of the right accounts, it is the funeral of the state’s budgetary balance, » he added.
If socialist measures were put into practice, « the country again for 2011, » defended Castro Almeida, who considers Pedro Nuno Santos risks being the « new José Sócrates » and that the PS « promises everything to everyone without doing anything to anything. »
Fulfilling the socialist program, Portugal “would no longer have the possibility of increasing the pensions and salaries of the civil service, would not have any chance of lowering the IRS, would no longer have one of the greatest growth of the Union Europe,” he said, adding that it was not, “by chance, that Fernando Medina was not present in this presentation”.
According to the ruler, « it is the PS program itself that in its macroeconomic scenario it predicts that there will be deficit in 2026, » which confirms that the socialists « devalue the right accounts. »
« Pedro Nuno Santos values little the right accounts, » he said, noting that this position is contrary to that of socialists such as Mario Centeno, Fernando Medina or António Costa.

About the presentation of the PSD/CDS coalition electoral program, Castro Almeida revealed that “soon” will happen.
