PS. Approved elections for secretary general on June 27 and 28
The direct elections to choose the new secretary general of the PS after the departure of Pedro Nuno Santos will take place on June 27 and 28, as the calendar proposed by the party president and was approved by the National Commission that will take place this Saturday with 201 votes in favor and five against, advanced Lusa.
In addition, another proposal was rejected from the affection group to Daniel Adrião to postpone the directs to after the municipalities.
The deadline for presentation of applications is June 12th.
PNS is no longer secretary general
« I finish here a course of many years of dedication to the party and the country. » The phrase was said by Pedro Nuno Santos, the day he left the position of party secretary-general, an attitude he decided to take after the bad electoral results in the last legislature.
« I was all that was to be in socialist youth (JS), I was all that was to be in the Socialist Party and also in public office, from the Parish Assembly to the Municipal Assembly, to the City Council as councilor, the Assembly of the Republic, Secretary of State, minister. It was years of dedication to my country, trying to do my best, the best one who knew for the Portuguese people, » he said to the party. Still, he assured that he will continue to “do political intervention” but “party life ends”.
Pedro Nuno Santos warned that he has not yet made a decision on the place in the Assembly of the Republic but will do so « in the coming weeks ».
« It seems to me well that the party does not stay long without secretary general, » says the socialist.
The same seems to want PS President Carlos César, who will propose to the National Commission that the elections for Socialist Secretary-General are on June 27 and 28 and Congress after the municipalities, which will happen.
