PS and PSD behaviors destroy democracy
The coup d’état of April 25, 1974, brought us the best that any citizen aims, democracy, freedom of expression and equality in laws and opportunities. It has already surpassed half a century and little matter the origins, woman or man, poor or rich, we all have the same rights of power to occupy all the places consecrated in the Constitution.
The coup d’état also brought us the formation and legalization of political parties and with them our choice in free elections, to represent us in the various bodies of sovereignty, Assembly of the Republic, government, local authorities and also the right to choose the President of the Republic through the vote.
The coup of state brought us international recognition. Portugal became a partner of the full right of the largest international organizations and with Portuguese personalities to direct these organizations. The coup d’état, gave us democracy, but also gave us the first great political leaders that unfortunately all of them have left for eternity, but remain present as a reference in our political and intellectual formation. Remember Mário Soares, Francisco Sá Carneiro or Freitas do Amaral, who did everything for democracy to be consolidated, and also to remember Álvaro Cunhal, who returned to Portugal and the opposite of them, intended to replace the Coup of Democratic State with a dictatorial regime.
The coup d’état of April 25, 1974, was and will always be a successful military coup. In referring to the first party leaders after the revolution, we must not forget either, the military who participated in the fall of the dictatorship, with the summit in the consolidation of democracy General Ramalho Eanes, first president of the Republic elected with party support, PPD/PSD and CDS.
The military coup of April 25, 1974, conducted by the Armed Forces Movement (MFA) that gave rise to the Council of Revolution, made up of military state, a political state with political – legislative and jurisdictional powers and its institutionalization as a body of sovereignty and enshrined in the 1976 Constitution, being extinguished in 1982 in the first constitutional revision, and the definitive delivery of power to civil society, namely to political parties.
The coup d’état, being a military revolutionary action to overthrow a dictatorship, turned out to be peaceful and the transition was a success. Fortunately the various presidents of the Republic, a military Ramalho Eanes and civilians Mario Soares, Jorge Sampaio, Cavaco Silva and the current Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, have respected, fulfilling and enforcing the Constitution. Also, first – ministers had a worthy behavior of our democracy, Mario Soares, Sá Carneiro, Cavaco Silva, António Guterres, Passos Coelho, António Costa and others.
The coup d’état, still with the Revolution Council, brought understandings between the two largest PS and PPD/PSD parties, and who won the elections even being in minority, ruled and in the first budget was made possible by the other party. And today what is the understanding of these two PS and PPD/PSD leaders? So many times they speak in the example of Mario Soares and Sá Carneiro, and behave as destroyers of this example. With their political and intellectual tactics and disabilities, they come with motions of censorship and confidence motions that resolves nothing, and Portugal continues to suffer from their daydreams. With your procedure, do not admire that the coup d’état that brought us to democracy will soon be another dictatorship again.
