Provisional settlement in fraud case between Boeing and American justice
Aircraft manufacturer Boeing may again be deep in the pouch to avoid persecution. According to international press agencies, the US Department of Justice has reached a provisional agreement with Boeing. A fraud case is running against the company.
If the agreement is approved by the court, Boeing will have to pay more than 1.1 billion dollars, including around $ 455 million to strengthen the company’s compliance, safety and quality programs and hundreds of millions as compensation for relatives, Reuters reports. This escapes the company from a lawsuit. If the agreement does not take place, the aircraft manufacturer will have to appear in court at the end of June.
Boeing has had in recent years Fine Fine Meer Paid and settlements were made in connection with two aircraft disasters in 2018 and 2019. Accidents with 737-MAX devices in Indonesia and Ethiopia killed 346 people. Previous fines and settlements had to do with, among other things, the misleading of the FAA and investors about the defects of the device.
Survivors do not agree with the provisional agreement and approaching settlement. Paul Cassell, a lawyer who represents many of the families, told Reuters news agency on Friday that his clients will object. They want the listed company to be in court.
