Promises that Trump ended and broken during the first 100 days
Promises that Trump ended
● Announce national emergency – Already on day one in the White House, Donald Trump announced a « energy red position », in order to take measures that stimulate, for example, oil drilling in the United States. A promise he made in September 2024 and something that the president claims will lead to a « massive increase » of domestic energy production. Trump has also announced national emergency at the country’s southern border with reference to the refugee flows from Mexico.
● Leave the Paris Agreement – Just as last time Trump sat in the White House, he has decided to leave the global climate agreement. A presidential order was issued immediately when Trump settled down at the desk in the oval room.
● Publish the JFK investigation – Trump promised in a mentioned interview in Joe Rogan’s pod last fall that he would publish the last secretly stamped documents in the investigation of the murder of John F Kennedy. Trump did this in March through a presidential order.
● Pardon capitolium stormer – The president kept his promise to pardon « some or many » of those convicted of the storming capitol in January 2021. A few hours into Trump’s second period in the White House, he pardoned over 1,500 people for the involvement in the storm.
Promises that have not yet been fulfilled
● Abandoning the right to automatic citizenship – Day one in the White House, Donald Trump signed a presidential order to abolish the automatic right to citizenship for those born in the United States. A law that, among other things, enabled the children of asylum seekers to stay in the country. Like many of Donald Trump’s presidential orders, this decision has been appealed and is likely to reach all the way to the Supreme Court, which will determine whether the change is compatible with the Constitution. A process that can take a long time.
● Largest deportation program in US history – Trump tear -started the term of office by implementing extensive raids against paperless refugees and deportations has been carried out to a number of countries. However, several deportations have been appealed and stuck in court processes. How many who do not have a residence permit in the United States that will finally be forced out of the country is still unclear.
● Several delayed taxes – Trump has promised abolished taxes on overtime work, drinking and social contributions for pensioners. Regarding these promises, he has started the process in Congress, but no decisions have yet been pushed through.
Promises that Trump broke
● Peace in Ukraine immediately – Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed that he will quickly end the war in Ukraine. He has even said he would do it before installation in the White House. Three months into the term of office, the war is still ongoing and the United States has threatened to withdraw from the negotiations with Russia.
● Lower prices – The promise to lower prices « from day one » was not fulfilled even if the consumer price index dropped slightly in March. In January, prices rose sharply, one month when Joe Biden was admittedly two -thirds of the time.
● Close the limit – Trump promised to close the southern border during the first day of the White House and « stop the invasion of illegal criminals ». Admittedly, the US border control for asylum seekers from Mexico was closed just hours after the installation in Washington. However, the limit itself is not fully closed. According to government statistics that Axios took note of, about 8,300 people entered the United States without permission from the southern border in February, which is, however, the lowest figure in the entire 2000s.
