Promise for better control of private healthcare providers in the care choice

After DN’s Review of Gyn Clinic Cevita Care Has region Stockholm made its own investigation which is now complete. Despite deficiencies the clinic gets continued trust within the choice of care after taking measures to improve patient safety.

The tours around Cevita Care shed the light on a bigger issue, according to regional council Talla Alkurdi (S).

– We need to take a change and carry out a review of patient safety work in the Stockholm region. For far too long, it has been talked about that each individual healthcare provider is responsible for patient safety. That’s true. But the region has overall responsibility.

The question will be lifted in the Health Board next week, according to Talla Alkurdi. She expects a great political commitment.

According to regional council Jonas Lindberg (V), the Left Party already has a proposal for a special fee to the healthcare provider in the choice of care, which will finance extended checks.

– I don’t think you should have this much private care. But if you have it, you have to have a system for follow -up, he says.

DN’s review of the Gynklinken Cevita Care has shown, among other things, that early alarms from patients not followed up by the region until much later. One reason was a lack of resources. Why did women need to be so bad before deficiencies were noticed?

– It is terrible that it had to go so far. Now we politicians must ensure that we raise the patient safety issue in all care. If you have an agreement with Region Stockholm, it should be a quality stamp, says Talla Alkurdi.

Is it possible to keep track of patient safety in a choice of care with so many healthcare providers?

– That’s exactly why I land in the fact that we need to do a review. I think it is expected of us, from the patients, from the taxpayers.
