Professor invited her parents to vote for a shot, he fenced out: ‘She made a mistake with these messages’
The candidate for the mayor of Split, Tomislav Šuta (HDZ), fenced off from Professor of Split Gymnasium Diana Matković on Friday, who urged his parents to vote for him in the WhatsApp messages because « Finn, educated and eloquent former student of that school ».
– Everyone who knows me, and everyone who has had the opportunity to hear my messages know well that the content that came out yesterday – who comes from the person who supported me in the first round – in no way reflects my views, values, or the political direction of the platform with which we go before the citizens. With such messages, she made a mistake and I am completely fenced off from such messages, and I think that the WhatsApp groups containing the parents of students are not a channel where there should be any political messages – said Šuta in a statement.
The Deputy Mayor of Split, Bojan Ivosevic, responded yesterday to Professor Matkovic’s move, accusing Suta of promising her the position of head of the Administrative Department within which he finds education, although he needs a competition, and said that the criminal offense of setting up a public tender can only ‘HDZ-kerum’s trade coalition’.
– Split we build is based on transparency and interruption with the bad practices of the past, including the one where the heads were elected before the tenders were announced at all. The claim that someone on our part is a promised mayor is simply not true – especially when the person who does not meet the basic conditions for the function is mentioned, including the fact that he has been retiring for some time – said Suta in a statement.
Such meaningless constructions, he says, are spreading those who feel the change really happens.
– Instead of dealing with what citizens really need, some choose manipulation and fans, which is most damaging to themselves. Such an approach to the current city government, on departure, once cost them most of the council, and now such an approach to the pranks and manipulations will give citizens a final red card – Suta said.
