The Belgian professional footballer Lucas Stassin lost his blank criminal record in the police court in Halle. Because of his dangerous driving behavior, he must also succeed again in a practical driving test.
Lucas Stassin, the 20-year-old Belgian professional football player, an ex-player of Anderlecht who this year was very successful with the French football team Saint-Etienne and found the way to the goal in the French league, had to account for a whole laundry list in the police court in the police court. On April 15, 2024, the local police noticed how a driver exhibited dangerous driving behavior. « The defendant endangered vulnerable road users and did not use his direction indicator or did not use his in time. He caught up two other vehicles at the same time, encouraged other drivers to drive too quickly and did not arrange his speed according to the speed limit in a zone, » said attorney Kris Boelens. After the facts, Stassin had to hand in his driver’s license immediately for 15 days.
Starting driver
The blank criminal record of the young striker spoke to his advantage, although he has not had much chance of contracting convictions. At the time of the infringements, Stassin was in possession of his final driver’s license for less than two years, which is an aggravating circumstance.
Stassin’s lawyer asked for mildness of the court and argued to express a suspension of punishment with the imposition of a course at Vias. « This is a young football player with a contract with a French football club. He has a major football career for himself and his behavior is flawless. He needs his driver’s license to go to France, because he is still staying in Belgium regularly, » said the lawyer. « He was a bit of a particularly slow vehicle that he was raised around 11 pm, which he has overtaken. He fully recognizes the facts and will not do this anymore. He would have liked to be here to express his regret, but he is in Spain and only returns tonight. »
Exemplary
Police judge Dina Van Laethem thought that the young defendant should be given an effective punishment. « We do not participate in VIAS courses in the Halle police court. This defendant, football player or not, must become aware of his driving behavior, » the judge said. « You know, I occasionally get professional football players for me. Some think they can do more than others. This while they just have an exemplary function for the youth who look up to them. »
In addition to the immediate withdrawal of fifteen days, a six -day driving ban followed. He must also pass a practical exam. A fine of 320 euros followed, plus 300 euros in court costs.
