Production has been initiated for providing portable Internet systems to the Russian Army / Day

The decision to prosecute four persons has been drawn up under the Criminal Law Article for assistance to a foreign country against another country, as well as for violating international sanctions, LETA confirmed to the Prosecutor’s Office.

More information will be provided when the prosecutor’s office decides to complete pre -trial criminal proceedings.

It has already been reported that prosecution was encouraged by the National Security Service (VDD). The service previously informed the media that on March 5, he called on the prosecutor’s office to prosecute four persons for the acquisition and supply of portable satellite Internet systems to the Russian army for use in the war in Ukraine.

This action breached the sanctions imposed by the European Union.

Proceedings were encouraged by one Azerbaijani citizen, two Latvian citizens and one non -citizen of Latvia.

The VDD continues to investigate other persons suspected of involvement in these criminal activities.

Criminal proceedings on the provision of Internet systems for the Russian Army began the VDD on October 9, 2024. The information obtained by the VDD showed that a group of persons had ordered on the Internet and, after receipt, had sent dozens of US -based Satellite Internet system « Starlink Mini » produced by the US company SpaceX, a movable antenna that provides access to the Internet from almost anywhere.

The EU has a ban on such systems to transfer such a natural or legal person, entity or structure in Russia.

For persons, custody applies as a security measure.
