Probable shooter arrested that Club Brugge fan shot in the foot

After the violent passage of Brugse Hooligans in Molenbeekse Vanderstichelenstraat, Brussels youth gathered for revenge actions. In one of those actions, strangers shot a Club Brugge fan in the foot. That happened in the Zuidstation, after the cup final between Club Brugge and Anderlecht. The victim was the 38-year-old Jan from Mol.

According to images that our editors were shown, two people shot at the Club Brugge fan and his friends. One of those two people has now been arrested. He was recognized by a police patrol in Brussels-Noord.

Amok makers

The man from Mol previously spoke to our newspaper. « After the match we ate another hamburger, after which we decided to go to the station, » it sounded. « On the way we already received reports that were warned that we had to be careful because amokmakers were present in the building. On arrival we saw people who clearly were looking for conflict. Together with my wife I decided to walk through and not pay attention to the situation. »

Only when Jan and his wife wanted to make some time for a toilet visit did it go wrong. « Armed figures came in, after which they started throwing bottles and glasses. Really everything they got in their hands had to believe it, » says Jan. « Before we realized it well, we were in the middle of those riots. »

« At first I assumed that fireworks were thrown and that I had contracted two burns, » he says. « My pants were not torn and my stocking was not damaged either. Blood trickled out, after which I was taken to the hospital with the ambulance. »

« Racism against white people »

Upon arrival at the hospital it became clear that it was not about fireworks. « After the necessary investigations, it turned out to be a bullet wound, » Jan looks back. « According to the doctors, I was very lucky that it is a flesh wound and there is no blunt or tendons. In my opinion, we can safely state that this is racism against white people. This incident merely on hooligans would be too short through the bend, » the victim would still be too short.

The suspect that has now been arrested is eighteen years old and was made available to the Brussels public prosecutor’s office. The public prosecutor in Brussels confirms the arrest.(CDS)
