A prisoner escaped in the prison of Bruges on Saturday morning. Around 11 o’clock a forties with a position of trust worked on walking while brushing the porter’s lodge. « There is a search, » says Kathleen van de Vijver, spokesperson for prison system. The man is sinded.
The escape took place on Saturday around 11 am when the prisoner in question was busy brushing the porter’s lodge in prison. The porter’s lodge is the entrance to the prison. Visitors and staff must report there when they arrive. But it is also an exit that immediately spends on public roads.
« The man had a position of trust, » says Kathleen van de Vijver. « Why he put it on now is not clear. The person in question even has a nightlife permit. That makes it a strange decision. He has been outside on Friday and then again reported without problems in the complex. That is why we think that this was an impulsive decision. Perhaps inspired by a personal or family situation. »

It is a forties who was a punishment for drug facts of less than five years. « He is not a danger to society, because otherwise he would not have any confidence function. Perhaps he has made the decision to flee through a certain situation, » says Van de Vijver. « The police are currently working on a search and we also know who his contacts are. But at the moment we do not yet know where the man is effective. »
According to Van de Vijver, it is possible that the prisoner in question will still return to his steps. « It is possible that he still offers himself today, » she says. « We have to wait and the police are currently doing a lot. » The man is sinded.
