Priority of Northern Norway – altaposten.no

Nordland Bondelag, Troms Bondelag and Finnmark Bondelag point out that a majority in the Storting consisting of the Labor Party, the Center Party, the Christian People's Party, the Left and the Patient Focus took a political responsibility by entering into an agreement on the figures.

The farmer's county council in the north is very pleased that the fifth point of the agreement is that Northern Norway should be strongly prioritized in this year's agricultural settlement.

Agriculture throughout the country has been a goal for Norwegian agricultural policy until now. This has been rooted in agricultural organizations, and has had broad party political support. The road choices trade unions and the state will take in the agricultural negotiations in 2025 will be very crucial for Northern Norwegian agriculture until 2050.

Developments for Northern Norwegian agriculture can go in different directions, depending on the grips taken today. On the one hand, Northern Norway has had a sharp decline in the number of uses, with significant centralization of production and processing and associated weakened professional environment. The strong cost growth in recent years has also consumed. The development in the north is dramatic and all arrows have over a long period pointed the wrong way. Projects and surveys show that the negative development does not stagnate, but rather accelerates.

On the other hand, we record that several good settlements in a row and strengthening the investment tools have led to increasing optimism and future faith. After all, investments are being made, youth choose nature education and there is good support for the young farmer collections in the region. We also record that the political recognition of Northern Norwegian farmers has increased as a result of the security policy situation. In other words: Politics works!

Unlike our neighboring countries in NATO – Finland and Sweden – Norway has a living agriculture in the north. In other words, we have a solid foundation to build on. However, it must not be underestimated that powerful tools must be used to maintain and develop production, further processing and associated professional environment in the region. To reverse the development, we must choose measures that work.

In summary: For the country's emergency preparedness, self-sufficiency and settlement, powerful steps must be taken to secure agriculture in Northern Norway.
