Princess Astrid and Prince Lorenz pay a state visit to Japan in June

Princess Astrid, who represents King Filip, and her husband Prins Lorenz will make an official visit to Japan from 5 to 11 June. There are various activities on the program, including a visit to the World Exhibition in Osaka.
The princely couple is expected in Osaka on 9 June to visit the Belgian and the Japanese pavilion at the World Exhibition. Princess Astrid and Prince Lorenz will participate in an activity of the Federation of the Belgian food industry (Fevia).
The next day, June 10, they are received in the imperial palace in Tokyo by Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako van Japan. A meeting with crown prince Fumihito and Crown Princess Kiko is also on the program.

Astrid and Lorenz will also visit Nagasaki on 8 June, which was hit by the second American atomic bomb in 1945 for a visit to the atomic museum, the Peace Park and the museum and monument for the 26 martyrs. The princely couple will place a flower wreath there at the Peace Monument, which honors the victims of the atomic weapon, 80 years ago.

During their stay they will also participate in various official activities at the Belgian embassy, in the presence of Belgian and Japanese businessmen and Japanese dignitaries.
