Prime Minister Rhein opens Hessentag in Bad Vilbel
This year’s Hessentag in Bad Vilbel begins with exhibitions, concerts, cultural and sports offers on Friday (9:00 a.m.). Prime Minister Boris Rhein and Bad Vilbels Mayor Sebastian Wysocki (both CDU) will officially open the 62nd edition of the state festival at noon (1 p.m.).
Hesse’s Environment Minister Ingmar Jung (CDU) already gave the starting signal for the special show “Nature on the trail” at 10 a.m. On Friday evening, among other things, the rock band Rodgau Monotones, which with its hit « Mercy, has been too late with its hit » Mercy, has long since secured « cult status.
« We put Hessen on stage » – under this motto, the city offers a total of more than 1,600 events at the gates of Frankfurt by June 22nd. Bad Vilbel is the host city of Hessentag for the first time. Originally, the state festival was supposed to take place in the city in the Wetteraukreis in 2020, but had to be canceled at the time because of the Corona pandemic.
The organizers expect around 750,000 visitors to the state festival – that would be almost half more than at the previous Hessentag in Fritzlar in northern Hesse, where 519,000 visitors came last year. The festival in which the Bundeswehr and numerous organizations such as fire brigade and technical relief organization as well as clubs and groups have been presented since 1961.
