On that day, the Croatian Parliament, as a historical symbol of Croatian statehood, became the bearer of sovereignty and expression of the will of the people, he added and emphasized that modern democratic Croatia was born that day.
« That is why we celebrate today on May 30, as the basic turning point and political outcome of the renewal of Croatian statehood, » he said.
The Prime Minister paid tribute to everyone, especially Croatian veterans. « Under the guidance of the first president, Dr. Franjo Tudjman and with the determination of the Croatian people, we have the right to our own state, » he said.

« Hundreds of thousands of Croatian workers, farmers, teachers, doctors, officers, police officers, craftsmen, businessmen and all those who build our country are most responsible for these achievements. They build our country daily.
Our achievements give us the right to confidence, he added, and called, regardless of political differences, on the construction of consensus over strategic issues of the future.
