« What is stated in the coalition agreement will not suffice to get the budget in order. » Prime Minister Bart De Wever said that on Sunday in an interview with VTM News. « Every year it is sweating. »
De Wever understands that the population lives that the government is looking for the money « with the little man », but at the same time wants to contradict it. « If the little man is someone who works in the private sector and who simply perfectly perfect his career as most Flemish people do, then there are no measures that I know that person touch, » he stated in the interview.
According to the prime minister, his government « does nothing but what you can expect in every European country ». « That means that you must have worked for 35 years before you can take a full pension. Isn’t that impossible? We are the only country where unemployed is a choice that you can make all your life, which means that you of course have many long -term unemployed people who are no longer activable. »
De Wever also talked about the budget and the ever -increasing national debt. « The budget is the Titanic, » it was said. “That is on the bottom, that’s how we got it. That is not just the fault of Vivaldi (the previous government, ed.)For twenty years we have been failing to implement the reforms in this country that Europe tells us to do them. Or we do it far too little. Vivaldi was a catastrophe and has left us a process that would have gone to a deficit of 45 billion euros in the event of unchanged policy, for the federal government alone. That’s the reality. «
“Thinking that you can immediately turn that falling curve into a rising, that is an illusion. That will require ten years of work, but a measure per measure will see you rise that curve. The three percent (budget deficit, ed.) Is the critical threshold. The government says: we should be there by 2030. A balance in balance is a ten -year matter. You can’t go faster either without either having dramas in your society or having terrible consequences in your economy. That is something I dare to say you now: the coalition agreement will not suffice. And they are already struck against that, against the stars. It will not suffice. I will be very realistic: every year it becomes sweat. «
