Primary teacher assumes « almost everything » from the 3,734 crimes of abuse of children from which he is accused

A primary teacher at Póvoa de Lanhoso, in the Braga district, confessed on Tuesday « almost everything » from the 3,734 crimes of sexual abuse of children from which he is accused.

Sexual abuse were committed on 11 students and the teacher justified them in court with « an uncontrollable impetus, » saying he feels « deep regret. »

The information was advanced to journalists by the defendant’s defense lawyer, after the break for lunch of the first trial session, which takes place at the closed door.

On the other hand, the 50 -year -old defendant denied some of the crimes of sexual abuse and mistreatment, for which he is also accused by the Public Prosecution Service (MP).

The lawyer stressed that his constituent is now aware of “gravity” of the acts practiced and is having psychological and psychiatric follow -up.

As for the conviction that the court may apply to the defendant, the lawyer said it was difficult to anticipate the penalty, as there are many facts and many crimes.

The Public Prosecution Service accuses the teacher of the first cycle of basic education, currently in pre-trial detention, “daily, under the pretext of explaining school subjects or clarifying doubts”, call the victims to the table where he taught in the classroom, placing them in his lap and touching them inappropriately.

The defendant, who has been a primary teacher for about 24 years, will also be responsible for three minor porn crimes.
