Five new stone tombs in rock Dotkia Archaeologists from the Prilep Institute and Museum of Protective Archaic Research at the Krklari site in the Markovi Kuli complex above Prilep. They are from the rule of the Macedonian kings Philip Fifth and Perseus of the first and second century of our era of the Hellenic period.

According to the archaeologist, Kirpor Vladimir Krsteski, this type of tombs are specific and are the only occurrence in the Prilep region. Various citizens were buried in the tombs and can be a major tourist attraction.

-The their common elements of building are: the drug, the atrium and the main chamber where the deaths were presented, that is, the deceased of the deceased. Chronologically, dating in the first and second centuries of our era, that is, in the late Helinist period. The research of this type of tombs in the Pelagonija region will complement the knowledge of the burial of people from the higher socio-political status during the reign of the last Macedonian Kings Philip Fifth and Perseus. This will become a beautiful tourist attraction with the more conservation work and their protection and full access so that visitors and tourists visit and see the way of burial of this type- explains Krsteski.

For decades it has been known about the stone tombs but the complex Markovi Kuli, who is still hiding secrets and great archaeological surprises. The tombs were researched by the famous Prilep archaeologist Bosko Babic in the 1960s. The most there are in the Prilep region and, according to the current data, are 27 tombs. In Bitola Suvodol are three, four are in the Gevgelija-Valandovo region and one tomb is at Kratovo, at the site « Hole ». There are indications of an even greater number of tombs, even from the medieval, and research will continue in the coming years, which will bring all the tombs to this territory. The Markovi Kuli complex is a big necropolis.

-It is also specific that they are binding and located near the ancient cities of Keramia, which was nearby, ie Marko’s Towers and near the ancient city of Colobaisa, ie in the Gorno village near Treskavec. It proves to us that these cities lived and had high political and economic status at that time. This whole region is a huge necropolis. This is proven by our research that two more tombstones have been found from the Middle Ages, from the Middle Ages.
