The Bishopric of Oradia announced on Wednesday, the care of the former priest Ciprian Mega following the completion of the canonical-disciplinary procedures, the decision of the eparchial consistory being ratified by Bishop Sofronie.

« This decision occurs after the meeting of the eparchial consistory from the previous day, on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at the headquarters of the eparchial center in Oradea, in which, in the absence of the Ciprian-Romeo Mega priest, who chose not to appear at any of the research and judgment for which he was summoned, and the case was made, and Cathing of the aforementioned cleric, for multiple and serious canonical, moral and disciplinary deviations, documented and evaluated according to church procedures ”, according to a statement of the Episcopate of Oradia.

According to the same source, the Decision of Department « was based on the finding, with full canonical and procedural rigor, of the commission, in repeated and aggravating form, of numerous deviations », of which are mentioned: the violation of the confession from Hirotonie and the act of honesty and faithfulness to the Church; insult, slander and defamation of the church authority; the commission of acts contrary to the Christian morality, public order and good-will; instigating to attitudes and deeds of division; the challenge of serious disorders among clergy and believers; disobedience in continuous form towards the church authorities; the systematic public contradiction of the official positions of the Romanian Orthodox Church; committing jobs in other church jurisdictions without the necessary canonical blessings.

The Bishopric of Oradia also transmits that the deviations were documented with thorough evidence in the disciplinary research file and have based, in accordance with the status for the organization and functioning of the Romanian Orthodox Church and the church regulations, the application of the maximum sanction of the Cattery.

« We recall that, throughout the research, starting with January 15, 2025, the former Ciprian-Romeo Mega priest has been stopped from the Holy, according to the ordinances, and suspended from the service of parish priest at the Romanian Orthodox Parish of Saint Spiridon of the sending of Oradea.
