President of Ukraine accuses Russia of “trying to gain time”
The Ukrainian President accused Russia of “trying to gain time” as he prolonged negotiations, which aim for a ceasefire. According to Volodymyr Zelensky, the goal is to « proceed » with the invasion of Ukraine.
« It is evident that Russia tries to gain time to continue with its war and occupation, » President Ukrainian said on Tuesday through social networks.
Zelensky spoke a day after the telephone conversation without concrete results between US President Donald Trump, and Russian, Vladimir Putin.
Representatives of the governments of Russia and Ukraine gathered on Friday in Istanbul for the first direct conflict negotiations in more than three years, but without reaching a truce agreement.
Also this Tuesday, the Kremlin spokesman stated that there is no definite deadline for the establishment of a ceasefire agreement between Russia and Ukraine. Dmitry Peskov stated that the process is complex and the details are crucial to the development of negotiations.
This comment comes after US pressure on the parts involved to accelerate the process. For its part, Zelensky said that Ukraine is willing to accept any negotiation format that brings concrete results.
