President of the Republic expects justice by student killed in Braga
The President of the Republic spoke to family members close to the student killed in Braga, to present condolences, and said he hoped justice will be done.
« As happens in other analogous situations, the President of the Republic, within the limits of his constitutional competences, accompanied the succeeded in Braga and spoke to relatives close to the victim to present the senses, and hopes that justice will be made, » reads a note published this Friday on the official website of the Presidency of the Republic.
The Judicial Police (PJ) detained the suspect of killing a 19 -year -old next to the Academic Bar in Braga at dawn on Saturday. The alleged perpetrator is 27 years old and is indicted for qualified homicide.
At dawn on Saturday, the 12th grade student of D. Maria II Secondary School in Braga, known as ‘Manu’, was attacked with a white gun at the University of Minho Academic Bar, eventually died in the hospital.
« Of the uninterrupted demarches, which was made by the PJ, it was possible to identify, locate and stop the aggressor, who was already on the run, refugee in an isolated area of the interior of the country and preparing to escape abroad, » the Judiciary Police said in a statement.
The detainee will be present on Saturday the first judicial interrogation in the Court of Vila Nova de Famalicão, district of Braga, for the application of coercion measures.
The bar building is owned by the University of Minho and was given to the Academic Association. However, the association concessed exploration to a businessman.
After the crime, there were already two fire focuses in the building, which partially destroyed the bar.
