President of the Kraus Jewish Municipality: It would be dangerous to abolish the day of anti -fascist struggle

The Jewish Municipality of Zagreb and the Jewish Religious Community of Bet Israel marked Jom Hasho on Thursday, a day of memory of the victims of the Holocaust, and the President of the Jewish Municipality of Ognjen Kraus warned about the efforts to abolish the day of anti -fascist struggle in Croatia.

« Today, before the 80th anniversary of the Victory Day, a day of anti -fascist struggle is sought. One of the brightest days of human history. This day is not celebrated. For many, this is actually a day of occupation, » said the President of the Jewish Municipality of Zagreb Ognjen Kraus at Mirogoj, where Jom Haso was traditionally marked in front of Moses’ monument.

He warned of the aggression of the historical revisionists and the silence that cares, pointing out that it seems to him that we are not (in Croatia) « far from the request of changing the Constitution and deletion of ZAVNOH and the search that we are the heir to the Independent State of Croatia, one of the defeated forces of the shaft. »

Kraus also said in his speech that slowly but surely, the traces of the existence of Jews in Croatian cities were deleted, and recalled that in 1992, the Commission led by Vico Vukojevic found that only 240 Jews had been killed in Jasenovac.

He has listed a number of laws adopted in the last 30 years in Croatia, which, in his interpretation, relativized crimes committed at the time of the NDH, such as the NDH Law, which receives pensions and equates to the NOB fighters and the law « enabled the return of stolen assets of Ustashas, ​​returnees who came to Jewish assets in the NDH time. »

He also said that in 2006, at the request of about 30 members of the Jewish Municipality of Zagreb, a unlawful established new religious community of Bet Israel was established, which enabled the manipulation of Jewish property.

After the earthquake, neither the state nor the city, he emphasized, helped them renovate their facility as opposed to the renovation of the objects of other religious and national communities.

At the same time, he said, numerous ministries, state and city institutions today stand in Jewish property throughout Croatia.

He also wrote criticism that the VOC registration with a home label is allowed, « which enables the manipulations we still witness today. »

He added that many declarations were signed, contracts and many good laws were passed, but it is mostly only on paper.

« Reading various portals, listening to promotions of books and manifestations in public institutions, it seems that there were almost no camps and victims of the Independent State of Croatia. Benko: Enemies provoked war in gauze

The Bet Israel’s Jewish Religious Community held a commemoration at the Main Station in front of the Holocaust and Ustasha regime victims, which began with a burning of six candles and a minute of silence, and ended with the prayer of the main rabbi community of Bet Israel Kotel Da-Don and the reading of the names of the killed Jews.

In his speech, President Danijel Benko put the emphasis on anti -Semitism, saying that he was still current today as he was in the first half of the 20th century and said that today’s anti -Semites would like to kill millions of Jews, just that they didn’t start.

He said of current anti -Semitism that it lasts 80 years and is based on the dispute of the rights of Jews to his own state, and that he has taken 25,000 lives to date.

He pointed out that the people of Israel would survive as a people of faith, who never lost hope, whose contribution to civilization is relatively greater than any other people.

The Deputy Israeli ambassador to Croatia and Consul Hadas Dolev also addressed the attendees, saying that we witness hate speech, especially on social networks and on the internet. And she emphasized that there is a strong increase in anti -Semitism all over the world and we all have to fight against.
