Premise for opposition loss in 55 municipalities
By Eduard Zaloshnja
Renewal of 44% of the country’s vote has just begun. After the recount, we will have complaints, appeals, advertising and reports about the May 11 elections. However, in conclusion, the Albanian Parliament will meet in September with the 140 MPs already confirmed (perhaps only with a slight change within the species).
Meanwhile, the current mayors and those who aspire to become mayors have begun vote accounts for municipal competitions in 61 municipalities (in some of them we may have early elections in September).
It is understandable that candidates for mayors make accounts based on voters who voted on May 11 for parties who will support them in future municipal competitions (hoping that more or less the same voters will vote for them). Thus, the Socialist candidates will be based on voters who voted for the SP and PSD, while Democratic candidates will be based on voters who voted for the DP. And since in the municipal elections Diaspora does not vote by mail, the calculations become much simpler.
The following table summarizes the votes they received here on May 11 PS+PSD and PD-fascia in the territory of each municipality (the figures are rounded for ease of reading and the PD-fascia’s superiority is blue, while the PSD’s superiority is colored). The table shows that the PD-raw was in the territory of only 6 municipalities (Tropoja, Has, Mirdita, Kurbin, Kruja, and Kavaja), while in full 55 municipalities dominated PS+PSD.
