Premiere of the documentary film « 80 Years of Macedonian Contemporary Alphabet – Cyrillic »


On the occasion of the Day of the Macedonian Language, Monday (May 5), from 12 noon NI Library « Grigor Prlicev » from Ohrid is organizing a solemn ceremony.
The documentary film « 80 years of Macedonian Contemporary Alphabet – Cyrillic » will premiere. Authors are students from the elementary school « Bratstvo – Unity » under the mentorship of Macedonian language teachers: Ljubinka Mihajlovska, Maja Gugoska -Duleska and Sara Serafimoska.
Student Ana Tomovska from the same school will read excerpts inspired by the centuries -old struggle for the Macedonian language and Macedonian independence from Kocho Racin and Krste Petkov -Misirkov, and student Bisera Radeska from the teacher Elizabeta Zdraveska will perform on Ohrid.
The event will also feature a group of students from the Primary School « Vanco Nikoleski » from Leskoec and Kosel with an instrumental performance of the block flute of the famous Macedonian song « Bitola My Rater » accompanied by the violin of the teacher of music education Toni Gjorgjieski.
Acting will also be an appropriate address. The director of the library, Hristina Trpeska, and the librarian Milcho Jovanoski will present the rare Macedonian fund (1944-1950), which is jealously kept in the library’s depot.
Exactly 80 years ago on May 5, 1945, with the decision of the People’s Government of Federal Macedonia, the alphabet of the Macedonian language was adopted, and on June 7 of the same year the Ministry of Education legalized the first spelling of the Macedonian language.
Then are the founder works of the Great of the Macedonian Language and Science of Language, Blaze Koneski: Grammar of the Macedonian Language, Dictionary of the Macedonian Language and History of the Macedonian Language, thus rounding the codification of the Macedonian language.
Creating the Macedonian state, ASNOM also emphasized the existence of the Macedonian language as a key element of the existence of the Macedonian nation.
The development of today’s Macedonian alphabet dates back to the appearance of the Glagolitic and then with the replacement of the Glagolitic with Cyrillic and with the gradual development and improvement of the vocal graphic system.
The Government of the Republic of Northern Macedonia in 2019 decided that May 5 be declared a day of the Macedonian language.
