The pregnant Madison Geneyn (25) and daughter Maybelle (3) escaped death on Sunday when a drifting Audi just missed them. The driver (30) was under the influence, committed a fleeing crime and drove different cars during his flight. « The car was full of coke and he shouted that he would kill everyone, » witnesses Madison and her sister.
« I was walking with Maybelle from the store to the station. » The 25-year-old Madison Geneyn, 23 weeks in expectation, her 3-year-old daughter and 26-year-old sister Brandy Geneyn from Diksmuide experienced the shock of their lives at the supermarket chain Carrefour in Diksmuide on Sunday afternoon. « An Audi started drifting in the parking lot and crashed into a BMW. Then that car rushed our direction. I did a sign that he had to stop. At the very last moment the driver closed all the brakes, otherwise we were certainly sitting under it. The occupants laughed at us and then flashed away with squeaking tires. »

The car, a white Audi Q2, rushed away to the station and the Diksmuidse district Esen. During the flight attempt the car drove a few vehicles and after three kilometers the Audi came to a halt in the Roeselarestraat, at the Kruispunt with the Warestraat in Esen. « We still passed there and saw that there was coke everywhere in the car, » Madison testifies. «

According to findings of the Polder police zone, four occupants were in the Audi: a 30-year-old driver from Ostend, a 33-year-old man from Diksmuide, a 27-year-old woman from Bredene and a 29-year-old woman from Knokke-Heist. They were all arrested. Alcohol was found in the car and white powder, presumably cocaine. The driver took a positive saliva test. An investigation was opened and in that context the police did a house search in Diksmuide the same day.

« That is not normal: completely under the influence in the car? Those fools were a big danger on the track, » said Madison and her sister a few hours after the facts. « Afterwards we learned that we were not the only ones who escaped death last afternoon. It is a miracle that there were no injuries here. » Madison had to recover from the shock for a while. « I felt tension and stitches in my stomach. Hopefully everything will be fine. »
