Predoiu’s first statement as a prime minister in 2025
Marian-Cătălin Predoiu took over his mandate by the interim prime minister at the Victoria Palace, according to the Presidential Decree number 623, published in the Official Gazette 401 of May 6, 2025.
‘The Government of Romania will continue its activity under the interim conditions, as established by the Constitution and by laws. Government continuity and coherence are important for the good progress of public affairs, but also for the predictability and balance of private economic circuits, for the financial markets, for the interests of all Romanian companies, of civil society, of all Romanian citizens, wherever they are. This interim mandate takes place in an important electoral context for all Romanian citizens. The executive institutions that have attributions in the organization of the electoral process will fulfill their duties and competences with full equidistance, transparency and legality, so that the Romanian citizens exercise their free and public vote, as happened at the first round of the presidential elections held a few days ago. Although it is only an interim mandate, the government will remain an interlocutor open to dialogue for social partners, investors, external partners of Romania. Romania is and must remain a resilient democracy, a country whose development objectives remain anchored in Euro-Atlantic values ”, said Cătălin Predoiu, interim prime minister.
