Pre -election campaigning has been the biggest spending so far in LPV and JV / Day
The LPV has signed contracts for EUR 339,551, JV for 211,380 euros, the Latvian Green Party for 172,957 euros, « Stability! » – for 125 365 euros, « Combined List » – for 112 297 euros, for « Latvia for Development » – 91 685 euros, the Union of Greens and Farmers – for 89 044 euros, « Progressive » – for 80 507 euros, National Association – for 68 755 euros. The other parties have concluded smaller amounts.
During the pre -election campaign period, all political parties and their associations have a limit on the financial resources, as far as they can be used to place political advertising, charity, sponsorship, benefits and gifts. Expenditure limits do not apply to advertising or campaign planning.
The KNAB explains that pre -election campaign expenses include the individual expenses of both the party and the candidates of the candidates. If the party or party is candidate throughout the territory of Latvia, the maximum amount of pre -election campaigns it can use for the purposes is not more than EUR 869,640.
On the other hand, non -political parties and their associations may use funds not exceeding 15 minimum monthly salaries, ie 11,100 euros, for pre -election campaigning for or against political forces and deputy candidates. For these persons, the restrictions on the campaign concern advertising placement, charity, sponsorship, benefits, gifts and postal services.
The KNAB recalls that during the pre -election campaign period, advertising service providers and agitators are obliged to inform the KNAB about all advertising agreements. Information on each contractual obligations must be submitted to the KNAB within three days of their conclusion.
It has already been reported that in Latvia on February 8, the pre -election campaign period before the municipal elections, which will last until the election day – June 7.
