Powder letter found in Hof of Appeal in Antwerp while assisen process has just started (Antwerp)

A powder letter was found in the Court of Appeal in Antwerp on Friday morning. The fire brigade and police arrived to insulate the letter. An investigation was started into the sender. In the meantime, the sessions in the Court of Appeal will continue.
It was around 9.30 am that the Antwerp police received a report about a powder letter in the Court of Appeal to the British. The fire brigade and police rushed on the spot. « The letter is isolated and the room where the letter was found was evacuated, » says police spokesman Wouter Bruyns. « We have started an investigation into the sender of the letter. The civil protection will take the suspicious package for further investigation. The judicial lab will also be on site for trace investigation. »
In the Court of Appeal this morning the assize process against Ken De Neys started. In December 2020 he put his girlfriend Manuela Raeymaekers dead in Hoboken and put her 13-year-old son in his neck because he thought they were planning a murder attempt on him. « The building was not evacuated. All sessions can continue, » confirms Bruyns.
